For Patch Robe Monk brewer Gustav Dose, Genmaicha is personal. His Japanese grandmother, Yoko, loved tea, and Genmaicha was among her favorites. Her peaceful expression while sipping tea in the garden of her Tokyo home is a permanent memory — and one that inspired Gus’s thoughtful approach.
We steep our Sencha green tea for just 30 seconds at 80°C, drawing out the delicate grassy notes without the bitterness or astringency. Infusing with rice gives the tea a smooth, toasty background and a touch of perceived sweetness. And its low caffeine content makes our Sparkling Japanese Genmaicha perfect for anytime enjoyment.
